Freedom of Information & Data Protection
The Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 ( the Act) requires Scottish public authorities to adopt and maintain a publication scheme which has approval of the Scottish Information Commissioner, and publish information in accordance with that scheme.
Information on Freedom of Information
The publication must:
- publish the classes of information that the authority makes routinely available
- tell the public how to access the information and whether information is available free of charge or on payment.
East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture (EDCL) has been designated as a Scottish Public Authority by an order made under section 5 of the Act, known as the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002 (Designation of Persons as Scottish Public Authorities) Order 2013.
East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture has adopted the Model Publication Scheme 2014 which has been produced and approved by the Scottish Information Commissioner. It is approved until 31 May 2018. The classes of information available through the publication scheme are detailed in the East Dunbartonshire Leisure & Culture Trust Guide to Information.
Making an information request
Anyone has the right to ask EDLC for any information it holds and then receive it, subject to certain conditions and exemptions. Your request should be made in a permanent format, such as a letter, fax or email, and include the following information:
- Your name (we are unable to accept a request without this)
- A contact address, email or telephone number to which information can be sent
- Details of the information you are seeking
Subject to these conditions being met, we will respond to your enquiry in full within 20 working days starting from the day we receive your request. The majority of requests will be dealt with free of charge, but for time consuming requests we may charge a fee but we will let you know in advance if this is the case.
