Exhibitions
We organise a wide variety of exhibitions within local venues throughout the year – showcasing local talents and welcoming works and artists from all over the world.
Our two main spaces are the Auld Kirk Museum in Kirkintilloch and the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie (see below for more details), but we also offer online exhibitions and organise special events.
Our Exhibition spaces
The Auld Kirk is a Category A-listed building and one of the finest and oldest sites in Kirkintilloch. As well as hosting a varied programme of exhibitions throughout the year, it also offers a chance to view objects and works of local, national and international significance. The Auld Kirk is close to Peel Park, once home to a Roman fort on the Antonine Wall.
For more than 60 years, the Lillie Art Gallery in Milngavie has been a popular destination for local residents, visitors and artists. It owes its existence to local banker and artist Robert Lillie (1867-1949), who left a substantial number of his own artworks as well as funds to build the gallery. As well as hosting exhibitions throughout the year, the Lillie also showcases works contained in its collection – including paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture and ceramics.
CoCurated Space

Kirkintilloch Town Hall (CoCurated Space)
Kirkintilloch Town Hall was rejuvenated with a major refurbishment – delivered by East Dunbartonshire Council and EDLC Trust, with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic Environment Scotland and the Scottish Government. The original 1906 B-listed sandstone building reopened in 2018 with the addition of modern function spaces including the Heritage Centre (Made In Kirkintilloch) dedicated to Kirkintilloch’s industrial heritage with flexible learning and exhibition space. This supports a year-round programme of exhibitions celebrating East Dunbartonshire’s local history, our museum, archives and Local studies collections and Civic Art Collection. An annual exhibition we host in partnership with the Thomas Muir Festival & East Dunbartonshire Council Education Department Schools Competition.
