Alastair’s practice is rooted in observation of the world around him. Wherever is based at any time becomes the subject matter of his work. This series of paintings, made over the last few years, began during the time of Covid, when our world grew smaller, and he began, by necessity to really explore his immediate environment. The tenements and streets of Dennistoun, where he lives, and the centre of Glasgow which he regularly passes through by bus or on foot. Small, exploratory collages evolve from quick line drawings, often inspired by simple, visual triggers in the immediate environment. This exhibition is suitable for all ages. Kids can draw what they see around the exhibition and join in with scavenger hunts. Fun quizzes and word searches will also be available.
