The extra funding will help us provide more opportunities for children and young people to get physically active.

Free activities in our leisure centres
Free swimming
Children and young people who are aged 0-17 or in school in East Dunbartonshire can swim for free in our pools.
Inspired by the Glasgow Commonwealth Games? Then join us for a few laughs and lengths with friends this summer.
Free court and pitches bookings
Young people, or families with children, can book a variety of our courts and pitches for free! Availability is different for each centre so read below to see what we have on offer.
Don't have your own equipment? No problem, you can borrow ours for free! Although unfortunately we cannot offer footballs so please remember to bring your own.

Bookings can be made in-person or by phone up to 24 hours in advance.

You can book an indoor court at ALC to play badminton, pickleball, or tennis. We can also loan you the equipment to play all three! And of course, you can swim in our main pool or training pool.

At KLC you can book an indoor court to play badminton and pickleball, and book tennis for our outdoor courts. We can also loan you the equipment to play all three!
Please also feel free to pop along and book football for our outdoor five-a side-pitches. Unfortunately we cannot lend you a football so please bring your own! And of course, you can swim in our main pool or training pool.

Local clubs
Are you a sports club in East Dunbartonshire? Would you be interested in providing reduced cost or free activities for children and young people?
To access this funding clubs will need to have completed our Club Approval process. Don't worry, our team can support you with this!
Young people
Are you a young person aged 16-26? Would you like to volunteer in sport or enhance your CV?
Great! We are offering free training opportunities across a wide variety of sports until the end of March 2027.

Free activities are available at the Allander Leisure Centre, the Leisuredrome, and Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre. You can also book our tennis courts at Huntershill Sports Hub.
A young person can book a max of one hour court/pitch slot free per day at each of our sites.
Anyone who is aged eight and over can use our facilities unsupervised, but they must adhere to our facility guidance.
You can book a court/ pitch up to a day before! Just give as a call or pop in. We will let you know what availability we have that day or for the day after.
Yes, if you are a parent/ guardian/ carer and want to book to play a game of football or tennis with your child(ren) then you can book for free. Just remember to bring your kid!
You can book our outdoor five-a-side pitches at the Leisuredrome and Kirkintilloch Leisure Centre.
Due to current level of regular bookings, we are unable to include our football pitches at the Allander as part of the programme. However, the Leisuredrome and Kirkintilloch LC would love to have you join them for a kickabout!
Unfortunately you will not be able to use our sauna and steam rooms as these are for over 18s only.
No, only individuals can book our courts or pitches. If you are a local sports club you will have to book through our normal booking process.
No, all court and pitch bookings are unsupervised. Parents/guardians are responsible for their children while they are in our centres.
Yes, we can provide you with equipment to use our indoor courts! This includes badminton and tennis rackets, pickleball bats, and also shuttlecocks and balls. However, we are unable to provide footballs so please remember to bring one with you.
Our free access is available to all young people and not just our existing members. To provide a fair and consistent booking process, bookings can only be placed in person or over the phone.
No, unfortunately you can only book for the centre directly. We cannot manage bookings across different sites.
No, unfortunately our hydropool is not included and therefore not available to book for free.
